usually stop me from getting involved in many school and social activities, even though I have the potential
to do a lot of things. I always felt less smart, less pretty, less everything; I felt stupid and unattractive.My
self-esteem was very low and making friend was very hard because I was afraid that not one would like to
hang out with some one like me.
Another negativity that I experienced as a teenager was self-fulfilling prophecy. The self-fulfilling
prophecy is developed when people tell others something so many time that it becomes true. Once this
happens, it could affect this person for the rest of his life. For instance, I clearly remember that my Dad use
to joke around and tell me that if I didn't gain weight he would take to the gas station and inflate me with
tire air to see if that way I would look fuller. I was fifteen and I wanted guys to be attracted to me, I
wanted to wear bathing suit and thigh clothes like the other girls. At that point I began to drink all kind of
stuff to gain weight; inclusive I subscribe to the local gym for several years, but it wasn't until I was
seventeen when I slowly began to like me. Being happy with myself and my body returned to me the
confidence I lost. I wasn't any more a sack of bones, certainly took me years before I realized that growing
up will change things, but not one ever told me so.
