The novel Night by Elie Weisel takes place in Germany during World War II. The story begins at the beginning of the war before the Jewish people are aware of the life threatening situations they are in. The story progresses to horrific conditions in the concentration camps. The story revolves around the need to recognize and stand up to the evil society.
As the story opens "there are anti-Semitic incidences everyday"(pg 7 Elie Weisel). The Jewish people realize that this point there is hatred towards them and are "living in an atmosphere of fear and terror"(pg7 Weisel). Still despite this knowledge the Jewish people are not fully aware of exactly how evil the Nazis truly are.
As the story progressed the Jewish people came to realize how evil the Nazis truly are where they make them give up all of their " gold, jewels or any objects of value"(pg8 Weisel). After all of their possessions were taken from them the Hungarian police shoved them into cattle cars. Each cattle car was crammed holding 80 people in each car. " A few loaves of bread and some buckets of water" (pg 0 Weisel) were all that they got in the cattle cars. They went on their way and as they did the Nazis began to show what they were really up to.
They continued their travel on the cattle car on their way to Birkenau. As they traveled they were warned that if anyone tried to escape that they would "all be shot"(pg Weisel). As the train arrived at its destination they were welcomed with "eight short Order Custom litterary analysis night paper

simple words"(pg7 Weisel). These words separated their family and tested their strengths. The words that would haunt them forever were "men to the left! Women to the right!"(pg 7 Weisel)
The story did nothing else but just make a turn for the worse, they had been taken from there homes to work as slaves for the Germans, forced to use all there energy working then they would go "without food or drink" (pg 1 Weisel) for any given amount of time. Many of the Jewish people were so exhausted that sleeping was almost as bad as being awake, in the sense if you go to sleep "you might go to sleep for good"(pg 84 Weisel)
The novel Night is a true testament to how hard life was for the Jewish people during World War II. The novel night allowed us to get a glimpse of life leading up to the concentration camps and how mush strength it took to survive them.
