Peters Childhood Background

Peter Baxter was left by his parents so he became an orphan. Peters father was a thief, drug addict and he left the abandoned the family when Peter is about three years old. Her mom was also a drug addict. Due to the poor school records of her, she had to work on the street as a drab.Later, she was been sentence for three year punishment due to prostitution and trafficking in narcotics.

Peters body condition is bad. Hes very skinny. His bum was covered with dipper rash, deep pitted pustules surround by red chafed skin, while his penis was swollen with ammonia burns.

He had been placed temporarily with nine foster families before he was sent to Johns facility. By the age of six, he was sent to his the first foster home. That was also the best foster home he had. He gained weight and start to develop some colors in his cheeks. Moreover, he began to learn how to play with other children. However, when he was officially placed in this home, the foster mother became ill and could not take care of him anymore and he had to be transferred. Although he didnt fit in any foster home that he was assigned in after, these foster parentss has a big influence on Peter.

At the age of eleven, he was transferred into the facility which has John as the counselor. He was acting as usual. Pretending that he didnt see anyone, even if anyone speaks to him, he did not reply. In the facility, other kids are picking on him. The first night Peter wet his bed; this proves that Peters toilet training was incomplete.

One day when Peter is participating in activities of the facility, the kids were picking on Peter as usual. The kids were trying to blame Peter on breaking the windows. Although Peter didnt do it, he didnt try to defend himself. John later explained the real situation. After solving the mess that the kids made, John realized that Peter is choking to death. He immediately sent Peter to the hospital. After a few days, Peter decided to escape from the hospital.

We know that Peter was living with an old man, Mr. Seward, and a deaf man, Mr. Thomson, in this period. Until the RCMP found him and take him away, we could assume that he lived happily with the two men judging by his emotion state.

Now, the judge of the court has decided to send Peter to Johns facility once again. The reason that he provided is because the two men do not have the spirit of human who willing to have a better life. Therefore, they are not qualified enough to be in charge for taking care a young boy properly. Also because John has past experiences of teaching Peter so he would be a suitable person to educate him.

Peters Emotion States

Peter has a very bad childhood where his father left the family and his mom wasnt capable of taking care of him. So he felt like an orphan for his whole life. Aside from his real family, he has had many foster families throughout his childhood. Every time he felt attached to one foster family, he was moved to another. This had taught him not to love, since he felt that everyone he loved was taken away from him one by one.

He also had learned many lessons from his foster parents which made a big influence on Peters characteristic. Some were very strict to him and made him a very shy and polite boy because he was afraid that he would get in trouble. Being emotionally scarred, he isnt very open to anyone and tends to hide within himself.

He doesnt really trust adults since he has been tossed around by them, and has been switching foster homes, and being treated badly or sometimes nicely. He has not been able to keep one stable family, where he can stay and enjoy his childhood.

In the facility he felt like being trapped and just being left at a place where he wouldnt make any friends and was scared of getting in trouble. Since it was a facility, he felt like it was a place full of rules and restrictions and that he had to do everything ¡§Just So¡¨ so he wouldnt get into trouble. He was picked on in the facility probably because he was too neat and gave the other boys an impression that this guy was easy to bully or pick on. He was played tricks on which lowered his self-esteem even more. This was shown by his attitude of being picked on. He didnt even defend himself for bad things that he was framed on doing.

Peter had run away from the institution for a while and appeared to be doing well, since the RCMP hasnt taken him in for causing trouble. Until we have found out his whereabouts, we didnt know what wouldve become of him. And judging by the emotional state he was in when he attained by the RCMP he seemed to have been really attached to the old man and his housemate.

Peter told us of his time spent with these two men and in my opinion he has found his perfect guardians. This event, gave him a chance to emotionally open up to Mr. Seward and Mr. Thompson. He had found two people that really cared about him and made him feel happy. In his time with these two men, he was given an opportunity to express himself and actually develop a strong relationship with the Mr. Seward and Mr. Thompson. During this time, he had a lot of fun and he finally felt like someone cared about him. When he was with them, he slowly learned to trust them because the Mr. Seward was very caring to him and respected him, allowing Peter to feel confidence in himself. While Mr. Thompson gave him motherly-care, which made Peter feel he had a sense of belonging with these two gentlemen. Peter felt so happy with them that he would die if he had to ever leave them.

Counselors Suggestions

To improve Peters life, we have to nail down the problems that he has encounter and solve them one by one.We should give him one stable family for the rest of his childhood so that he could have the love and care given by parents as same as the other kids.

I also think that the selection of these parents should be approved by Peter. Since Peter needs parents or guardians that he admit, that he trusts and would share his inner thoughts to them. In return, the parents could guide him through his difficulties properly.

When we found his proper parents, we should let them communicate for a while. I suggested that these new parents of Peter should teach him techniques about how to get along with people. After that, we should send him to school and received knowledge that he would required for his future life. In school, Peter could makes friend that cares about him. Moreover, this could solve his problem concerning he doesnt have much interaction with other human beings.

I recommend that Peter should have scheduled appointments with the psychologist as well. I hope that through the guide of his parents he would start to corporate with the psychologist. I believe that this would help him to overcome his childhood fears and cure from his previous psychological injuries.

Another problem that we should be concerned about is his health condition since he has a really weak body. I advise that the parents should get fundamental support from the government until Peters body is completed healed.

Through the story where he had told us about his time away from the institution, I have concluded that Peter has developed a very strong bond with the two men. I believe that these two men are the perfect choice for being Peters parents since they already have a good relationship between both parents and the child. And for the happiness of Peter, I strongly suggest that Peter should not be taken away from Mr. Seward and Mr. Thompson or he might be emotionally wrecked. I preferred that they should be given the same rights and considerations as would be granted to natural parents.
